Earlier today I found a notebook full of poems. Old poems – like high school old lol. They are from 97 and 98 – dated and everything! I am going to share them on the blog – well some of them any way. Some of them are kind of personal, a few weren’t written by me so I’m not sure they are mine to share lol. And just to warn you – a few are quite depressing. I was a bit of a moody, depressed teenager apparently
I picked this first one because it kind of fits where we are now to lol. I actually wrote this in August of 1998. My parents had just moved to Kleefeld, leaving the home we’d lived in for many years. Dave and I were are the house, picking up a few last things for my parents, and it was empty and kind of sad. We sat in the empty living room (Dave and I) and talked about all the memories we shared in that house since we’d met. So I wrote this poem – on the page it says “For Dave, In memory of the night in the old house”.
So many places bare our mark,
Empty rooms once full of life,
Times have changed since yesterday,
We’re moving on again.
New rooms, they seem so bare,
No memories can be found here,
It won’t take long now,
Memories will begin to grow.
‘Cause we just get better,
So many times we’ve done it wrong,
But we’d just try again,
And once again we will go on.
