101 in 1001 for 2010

Monday, September 27th, 2010

So – I’ve completed 14 of my 101 so far this year. In order to keep on track (average 3/month) I need to finish a bunch more this year lol. For me – its mostly just remembering what to do – I blog about it and then forget. SO – I made a list of the things I want to finish this year and I am going to print it out and post it on my fridge, my bedroom door and in the bathroom. So I’ll see it often – and be reminded to work on it :)

Here’s what I want to accomplish yet this year

3. Start the kids on an allowance and teach them to budget/tithe/save with it
14. Bake cookies and bring them to Grandma
23. Finish reading Preparing Your Daughter with Ariel
30. Finish Lisa’s wedding album
44. Change to energy-efficient light bulbs
46. Organize Keepsakes into Rubbermaid containers
49. Backup my computer files
52. Plan a Christmas shoe-box event to compile 50 boxes
55. Donate clothes & food to the Thanksgiving drive
80. Start a daily exercise routine
82. Try the soup diet at least once
93. Take a tour of the Mint

Wish me luck :)

#8 Find Preparing Your Son

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

One more item crossed off the 101 in 1001 list:)

#8 Find Preparing Your Son for Dave/Kahlan.

I found it in the church library this morning and snagged the last copy.

August 101 in 1001 Goals

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

I haven’t been keeping up with this lately – but I haven’t forgotten:)  For the month of August, there are a few things on the list that I am working on.

#1 – Pay off the van & #5 – Buy a House:  We are in the process of getting this done and if all goes well, both will be accomplished this month!  Prayer DEFINITELY appreciated on this one.

#30 – Finish Lisa’s Wedding Album & #46 – Organize Keepsakes into Rubbermaid containers: These have to be done together because the photos and pages that I need for Lisa’s album are currently mixed together with my keepsakes in boxes from moving. So I have to go through them to find all the pieces for Lisa’s album – might as well pick up the rubbermaid boxes and get them put away properly while I am at it.

#49 – Backup my computer files: needs to be done – might as well do it lol.

There you have it – those are my goals for this month :)

#13 Dinner Date with Parents

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

One more item completed on the 101 list – but this one deserves it’s own post:)

For my birthday about a month ago, Dave took me and my parents to Mongo’s in Winnipeg for supper. It was delicious – and a lot of fun:) Thank you Dave – and thank you Mom & Dad for coming with us:)

101 in 1001 Update

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

My word I haven’t posted in a while! I will post a bunch of updates today but let’s start with the 101 in 1001:)

In case you hadn’t heard- we moved last week. As a result, a number of my Household goals have either been completed or become unnecessary.

34. Fix the broken window in the dining room – Not done, but it came out of our damage deposit so for our end of it – it’s done.

37. Clean out the upstairs hallway closet – Done :)

38. Clean and re-stain the patio – Our new deck is beautiful and freshly stained so this comes off the list:)

39. Replace the tub surround in the bathroom – Not done, but it came out of our damage deposit so for our end of it – it’s done.

42. Replace main floor blinds – Since we’re not there, no need to spend money on blinds lol.

43. Paint each of the rooms in the house – The colors in this house are actually quite nice and freshly painted so for now, I’m not going to repaint. I am sure I will repaint at least a room or two before long. Because that’s what I do. But not the whole house.

Also Done:

47. Get bookshelves  -  It’s not a bookshelf – it’s actually an entertainment center but it has room for the magazines and books that I wanted shelves for. And it was an awesome deal – $25 brand new (it was the Liquidation World grand opening special).

48. Get clothes organized in each room – Pretty much a required part of moving lol.

Pick Up & Walk 2010

#45 -  Join in on a ditch cleaning effort

Today was the annual Pick Up & Walk event in Steinbach. Basically, every year, a group of local churches get together and coordinate a ditch cleaning effort. This year more then 950 local volunteers spent the morning cleaning up ditches and sidewalks through-out town.  Dave and I took the kids and we were assigned to the ditch in front of Superstore. It was pretty gross – and a lot of work – but totally worth it.

Here is a before/after comparison:

After we were done, we joined the rest of the volunteers for lunch at the arena. They served us hot dogs, burgers, chips and cookies.  The kids really enjoyed it and the weather was almost perfect (a little windy – but not to hot).

So – that’s one more thing crossed off the 101 list:) Only 99 more to go lol.

Number 29 on my 101 List: Get all those films sitting around the house developed

I have a collection of 35mm films and disposable camera’s that have been laying around my house for years. And I means years – we’ve had digital for more then 5 years already.  Yeah – sad – I know. Anyway, one of the goals on my list was to collect them and take them in to get developed and I finally did this last week.  I might have one or two more then I haven’t found yet but most of them are sent.

The pictures are going to be from around when Rayelle was born and earlier – I can’t wait to see them!

1 done – 100 to go:)

101 in 1001: April Goals

Monday, April 5th, 2010

So March kind of went by really fast but the kids are back in school today and it’s time for my April goals.  I didn’t accomplish as much towards my March goals as I had hoped but I did do a few good things.  I cut back quite a bit on slurpees and chocolate (except for Easter lol) and made the regular van payment which were part of my ongoing goals. I also got 5 people together for the Relay for Life – well 6 actually. So that’s great.

So – on to April:)

Ongoing Goals (read more about these here)

  • 65 Help Dave launch his first cookbook
  • 77 Weigh less then my husband & 79 Reach my goal weight of 180 lbs – Cut carbonated drinks out completely and only 1 slurpee per week. Start walking at least 5 times/week.
  • 88 Start a monthly date night – Plan 1 date night for April
  • 1 Pay off the van – This month make the regular monthly payment
  • 6 Put $10 in savings for each task completed – Decide where to save this money and get started

Goals To Work Towards

  • 23 Finish reading Preparing Your Daughter with Ariel – Make time to read a chapter each week (4 chapters in April)
  • 51 Put together a Relay for Life team – Find 4 more participants and plan 2 fundraising events
  • 67 Help Dave open his restaurant – Complete at least 3 sections of the business plan

Goals To Complete

  • 14 Bake cookies and bring them to Grandma – I was supposed to do this on Spring Break with the kids but I ended up working most of the week. I did by the stuff I needed though so I will make time to do this during an evening this week.
  • 68 Relaunch the Invitation Atelier – This basically involves getting the website back up and running and then starting to promote it. It’s some???thing I have wanted to do for a while but I keep putting it off. I have started doing some planning and this should be done soon.
  • 93 Take a Tour of the Mint – The kids are going to love this:)
  • 45 Join a ditch cleaning effort – our church is participating in one on April 24th so I just  need to sign us up.

So that’s my plan for April:) Yes – there are a fair bit of repeats but that’s okay:)

101 in 1001: March 2010 Goals

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Wow – this is a lot of posts for one day lol. Sorry about that:)  This is my last one for today – I swear.     So – I know it’s March 8th already but I still want to have goals for this month to get this off to a great start so here goes. I am going to take this list and put each item into Goal For It so that I receive daily reminder emails. I think that will go a long way to keeping me on target.

Ongoing Goals (read more about these here)

  • 65 Help Dave launch his first cookbook
  • 77 Weigh less then my husband & 79 Reach my goal weight of 180 lbs – Cut back on slurpees and chocolate
  • 88 Start a monthly date night – Plan 1 date night for March
  • 73 Read the entire Bible – Beginning the Reading The Bible In A Year plan
  • 1 Pay off the van – This month make the regular monthly payment
  • 6 Put $10 in savings for each task completed – Decide where to save this money and get started

Goals To Work Towards

  • 23 Finish reading Preparing Your Daughter with Ariel – Make time to read a chapter each week (3 chapters in March)
  • 89 Read 5 Christian marriage books – Finish reading Every Woman’s Marriage
  • 51 Put together a Relay for Life team – Find at least 5 participants and sign up our team
  • 99 Start journalling & complete all the prompts on http://journalingprompts.com/ – Journal 6 times per week (18 times in March)
  • 67 Help Dave open his restaurant – Complete at least 3 sections of the business plan

Goals To Complete

  • 14 Bake cookies and bring them to Grandma – That’s pretty straight forward right? Spring break is this month so I am going to add it to the to do list for that week.
  • 22 Start doing devotions together as a family – I am going to sit down with Dave tonight, talk about this and decide how and when we want to do this so we can get started.
  • 68 Relaunch the Invitation Atelier – This basically involves getting the website back up and running and then starting to promote it. It’s something I have wanted to do for a while but I keep putting it off.

Goals To Save Towards

I have decided not to use this section yet. I am not going back to work full time until next month so money is tight and I don’t want to add to the stress with yet one more thing I want to find money for lol. This section will come once I am working again.

101 in 1001 Ongoing Goals

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Each month I will be tackling specific goals but there are a few goals on the list that are long term goals that I will be tackling on an on-going basis. When I do my monthly posts I will mention them and any specific steps I plan to take or have taken but I figured I would touch on each of them here first:)

1 Pay off the van – We are currently making monthly lease payments which makes this an ongoing project. We will also have a $1500 buy out to pay in Summer of 2011 that we will need to save for.

6 Put $10 in savings for each task completed – Pretty self explainatory right? I don’t know what we’ll use this money for but I think we’ll probably use it to do something special to celebrate when I finish this list. IF I complete all 101 items, I will have $1010 saved up:)

65 Help Dave launch his first cookbook – For those who didn’t know, Dave has a blog at Dave’s Kitchen Revolution where he shares his recipes and cooking experiences. Our goal is to eventually create a cookbook. This is an ongoing project and right now Dave is concentrating on developing recipes and readership at his blog. Our hope is to launch the first cookbook in Spring of 2011.

73 Read the entire Bible – I am going to use the Reading Through The Bible in A Year Plan and I will keep you updated on how it is going.

77 Weigh less then my husband & 79 Reach my goal weight of 180 lbs – Both somewhat related lol. As off right now, my goal weight would put me 10 pounds lighter then Dave and I need to lose 55 pounds to make that happen. I am tackling this goal in small steps with lifestyle and eating habit changes rather then with drastic diets

88 Start a monthly date night – This is on the Ongoing list because its something that needs to be done every month – forever and ever. Well, at least until the end of the 1001 days lol.
