Even Now

Last week I picked up a book from the second hand store: Even Now by Karen Kingsbury.  I am a huge fan of Karen Kingsbury and this book did not disappoint! Loved it – finished it in two days (despite that fact that I worked 50 hours this week lol). No  -  I didn’t get much sleep. But SOOOOOOO good.

From the book description:

Shane Galanter is ready to put down roots after years of searching. But is he making the right choice? Or is there a woman somewhere who remembers a love that hasn’t faded with time? Lauren Gibbs is a successful international war correspondent who gave up on happily-ever-after years ago—when it was ripped away from her. So why is life so empty? Emily Anderson is a college freshman raised by her grandparents, about to take her first internship as a journalist. But before she can move ahead, she discovers a love story whose tragic ending came with her birth. As a result, she is drawn to look back and search out the mother she’s never met, and the father she never knew. With hallmark tenderness and power, Karen Kingsbury weaves a tapestry of life, loss, love, faith—and the miracle of resurrection.

August 101 in 1001 Goals

I haven’t been keeping up with this lately – but I haven’t forgotten:)  For the month of August, there are a few things on the list that I am working on.

#1 – Pay off the van & #5 – Buy a House:  We are in the process of getting this done and if all goes well, both will be accomplished this month!  Prayer DEFINITELY appreciated on this one.

#30 – Finish Lisa’s Wedding Album & #46 – Organize Keepsakes into Rubbermaid containers: These have to be done together because the photos and pages that I need for Lisa’s album are currently mixed together with my keepsakes in boxes from moving. So I have to go through them to find all the pieces for Lisa’s album – might as well pick up the rubbermaid boxes and get them put away properly while I am at it.

#49 – Backup my computer files: needs to be done – might as well do it lol.

There you have it – those are my goals for this month :)

Zoo Birthday Cake/Invitation

I mentioned to my bestiest best friend Lisa recently that I really miss doing cakes and that I wanted to get back into that again – so she asked me to start off with her son’s first birthday cake for this weekend :)     She gave me a lot of freedom – just something with a zoo theme – so I did a bunch of googling and came up with a bunch of ideas that I like and combined my favorites together to come up with this:

The main cake is two rectangular chocolate cakes with strawberry jam between them. They are iced with bright green buttercream and surrounded by wafer cookie stick “posts” to give the idea of a fenced in display.  The “mountain/hill” is two round layers of chocolate cake, one smaller then the other, covered in a pale green marshmallow fondant. I used blue icing to create a water fall/lake and more green buttercream to add blades of grass around the edges of the hills and the base of the “cage”.  Finished it off with some adorable, age appropriate zoo animal toys and VIOLA!!!

Oh – and the idea is that the “1″ candle will go on top of the hill, at the top of the water fall.

I also made the invitations earlier and they match:)

Wedding Photobook Preview

I am doing a PhotoBook review with Lulu and as part of the review, I got to create a photobook that they will print and send my way (I’ll let you know once the review is up so you can read it). Anyway – the photo book I did is for our Vow Renewal from last you and you can view the pages online here. Enjoy!
